Time Until the Party
About the Event
Work is done. Now let's actually talk. Grüner Papagei is an afterwork event in Bonn for expats, locals, and everyone in between. No agenda, no dress code, just good people and good music.
Expect a mixed crowd, a party passport, live DJ sets, and conversations that don't start with "so, what do you do?"
Party Passport: pick one up at the door and collect stamps as you go
DJ sets ranging from global sounds to electronic. Something for everyone.
Open to everyone, whether you've been in Bonn for 10 years or 10 days
Open · Safe · Welcoming. We have a dedicated Awareness Person on site. If something feels off, just come find them.
A flock of ring-necked parakeets flying over our Afterwork Party outdoor at Gustav, Bundeskunsthalle, 18.06.2026
The Name
Named after the ring-necked parakeets of the Rhineland, Grüner Papagei celebrates newcomers who found a home here. Originally from Africa and Asia, these bright green and highly social birds escaped captivity in the 1960s and adapted so successfully that thousands now live along the Rhine, including in Bonn and Cologne.
Known for being communicative and gathering in large groups, they bring people together wherever they appear. Just like them, many of us came here from somewhere else for work, studies, love, or adventure and built a life in a new place.
